Who are the people in the Aussie posters?

They are people who lived in Australia and were made to apply for exemptions to the dictation test which was a function of the White Australia Policy. The exemption allowed them to leave Australia and return without being excluded on the grounds of race. Several of the people featured in the posters were born in Australia. All of the photographs are from the National Archive or Australia.

In these four posters we see (from left to right) Kishner (of Aloomba) 1909, age 31; Kanichi Shiosaki, 1931, age 22; Nellie Chin, 1929, age 26; Moolah (of Cairns) 1909, age 30.
